Description
For the second year in a row, AZAR Innovations organizes an Organ-on-chip MasterClass in collaboration with Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Target group:
Biomedical scientists from academia and industry from around the world who wish to get started or gain more experience with organ on a chip systems.
Date:
Start: 08:45 – 9 November 2026
End: 12:30 – 11 November 2026
(2.5 days)
Location:
Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia
Goal:
Help scientists adopt, develop or use organ on a chip assays more efficiently.
Contents:
This MasterClass consists of:
1. On-demand interactive e-learning (1 month online access)
Engaging sessions with presentations, quizzes and group assignments about:

- Introduction:
- What is organ-on-chip assay?
- Why organ-on-chip assay?
- How to choose or design an organ-on-chip assay?
- Experiment:
- Do I need perfusion?
- Which flow system to choose?
- How do I calculate the system properties?
- Organ-on-chip libraries:
- Databases of published data
- Databases of commercial systems
- Databases of enabling technologies
2. Hands-on lab training (2x half a day)

- Chips & Flow:
- Connect the chips to 5 different perfusion systems
- Run perfusion systems
- Common troubleshooting
- Commercial systems:
- Work with commercial chips or enabling technologies
- Design your system using commercial systems
Companies to be announced!
3. Design your organ on a chip assay

- Organ-on-chip Challenge:
-
- Design a complete organ-on-chip assay in groups under supervision of the trainers.
- Start with the use case, continue with identifying the requirements, and choose a system.
- Use our step-by-step method to design your assay.
