Description
For the third year in a row, AZAR Innovations organizes an Organ on a chip MasterClass focusing on Intestine and intestine-microbiome models on chip, this time in collaboration with Innovation Center for Advanced Therapies (ICAT).
TARGET GROUP: Biomedical scientists from academia and industry from around the world who wish to get started or gain more experience with intestine and intestine-microbiome on chips.
Date: 7-9 May 2025 (3 full days)
Location: Utrecht, the Netherlands
GOAL: Help scientists adopt, develop or use organ on a chip assays more efficiently.
This MasterClass consists of:
1. On-demand interactive e-learning (3 months online access)
-
- What is Organ on chips and when you would use these systems?
- What components an organ on a chip system can have?
- Classify them to make them easier to understand?
- Advantages and disadvantages of each classification?
- How organ chips are made, where you can buy them, which ones to buy?
2. Interactive lectures
-
- Advantages and disadvantages of current intestine on chips
- Available intestine-microbiome on chips
- Analyze them with the help of trainers
- Interact with Organ on a chip ShowCase Table (a collection of organ chips from 7 Organ on a chip companies)
3. Hands-on lab training (1 day)
-
- Get comfortable with chips and flow systems (3 chip types and 4-5 pumps)
- Seed cells in the chips, different seeding methods
- Connect pumps to organ chips and other components
- Analyze flow parameters
- Advantages and disadvantages of every chip or flow systems
- Imaging and sampling protocols
4. Commercial demos (0.5 day)
-
- Work with commercial products under supervision
- Discuss your intestine on a chip assay with company representatives
Companies to be announced!
5. Design your intestine on a chip assay
-
- Step by step approach to adopt or design your own system
- Design tools to design your own assay
- Get inspired by our interactive intestine on a chip database
- Receive feedback from our trainers, experts and your peers
6. Expert views
-
- Discover applications of organ on chips with experts
- Learn about Do’s and Don’ts
- Interact with the experts
- Get inspiration for your own system design
