High throughput Organ on a chip plate
A new paper from DRAPER, not a lot of manuscripts get accepted only after 2 months like this one! This organ on a chip platform may be less known, but definitely has features that catch eyes:
Positive points
+ A higher throughput platform with 96 chips in one plate
+ Double microchannel separated by a track etched membrane, suitable for barrier models
+ On chip pump, double perfusion, integrated oxygen and TEER sensors
+ From the replicates, it seems that it has a high yield (probably >90%)
+ Material of the chip: Cyclo-olefin polymers (COP)
+ Apparently enough material from individual chip for RNA-seq
The system has limitations of its own:
– Challenging to culture cells in the bottom channel, probably by flipping the whole plate
– Like many other papers, not enough information is available, so difficult to reproduce some of the data
Last but not the least, it is a paper about the validation of the system with lots of not so much in-depth data, waiting to see more from the end user side!
